French Lesson
There is a gamu
t of motions
In the French language
which once you learn
will serve you only
when the deepest anger
and frustration
are the lock and the key.

When you do not know
which is which within you
the French words
are the breeze of air
that do away
with locks and keys
and tell you how to let
all the captives in your heart
Walk free.

         The Vanilla Trail

I drop a few tears
In the rain
A Vanilla and Blueberry
Trail...
Just thinking
Within a thought
Wet,
Cold
And fragrant...
Will you find me
In the rain...

Forgive Me For Not Asking

Last night,
I slept in your heart
Forgive me for not asking..

It was very cold
Out there
Everyone was ruling
Over icy lands

I had lost my way
And I had frost
Over my eyes too...

I had nowhere
To go
                   So,
Last night
I slept in your heart
Forgive me for not asking...

Adieu

My step felt heavy
Like the lead
Of the goddess..

They told me
Follow her
she knows the way

My step felt heavy
I did not understand
A word she said
The gestures of her hands

The Goddess
Was obsolete
And I want to turn back
to the whiteness
Of my heart

I want no goddess
I want to feel
My heart
Light and free

Sufi

I have a Sufi land
In my soul...

And I give all
and take nothing

No bond
No bondage

I have a Sufi land
In my soul

    Friend

the porch keeps swinging
the door of happiness closes,
another opens

a trial strong,
a sorrow weak.

I untied his past failures
and heartaches

with one word,
the best of all words: friend

he did not have to search for it,
I planted it
right in his dreams
so that they would never end
on a tear

I picked the queen of the flower
in my secret garden,
I called him friend
he did not hear the word
he did not feel the meaning

a trial strong,
a sorrow weak

today
I am walking in the dawn

a rainbow
shorter
by one shade

From:  So Badly

...
I want so badly, to go away for good,
to bid farewell, to let my freedom purr
under the caress of the sun.

The Mirage

I look out
at the mirage
thinking of you.

Keep me away from the tears
that were never shed
away from all harm
of the day without sun
and the night without moon,

Until I remember
the eternity
in my soul.

          One Soul Seat
...
I laughed and laughed. What is the matter?
    they inquired.
I said I changed my mind again
Let me call Paris and order a saffron suit
Let me fulfil the Nirvana dream,
I am flying to Shangri La
In a one seat soul
to the miracle of love, denied or ignored...

Forbidden

Time has forgotten
a garden
a scenery
where all the roses
are white

A prayer
has forgiven
the tree from which
all the leaves sing

The forbidden fruit
will never be ripe..

From:  The Steel Mask
...
I will offer you that True Love
you were always refused,
until you found me.
Then when the time is full
I will let you die unconditionally
as a mortal, and free you
from the steel mask of the legend
sleep in peace Amadeus
The mask is no more...

  Torn Over a Word

A word to start
My page
A quill to draw
Its wings
A prayer
To bring the wind
The pride
Of my heart
Brings the tear
At the end of
The white feather
And I write to you
The flow of my blood
Without punctuation...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heartless
I have exhausted
my heart
trying to feel
even for a second
the meaning
of your words,
of their words.
To try to find
a single heartbeat
and failed all over again
in the eerie silence
When the doors
of my heart
will never be opened
to the spring..
I know it is time
to count my days...
my heart is tired
to live....
I know it is time
to go for a long vacation
in the vacuum of
heartless space...
I know the way...
Talk To Me
A vintage guitar
With only two strings left
Displayed crudely
In a downtown pawn shop's window..
I stop every day, to see once more
The tears of the long winter night
A trail of frozen rivulets on the panel..
It is hard to see...but I must.
And so I urge my heart to beat faster
And blow its fiery fog over the frost..
A small melted opening in the ice
Let me see again the scar on my soul
three hundred dollars
Is that what you paid then....
For that guitar of a lie...
There are but two strings left
On our song..
Do I remember the words?
Yes. Talk to me darling.....
al Ghalwwah
In a small cup of Arabic coffee
I found, not my future, but my past
At the bottom of a cup
al Ghalwwah told me the tale
of Sheherazade and of the wisdom
of being with the time,
not against the sand timer
Al Ghalwwah told me to listen for a while,
before stepping into my future to the slow march
of the ancient caravan of my past
Love yesterday and you shall be loved tomorrow
there is no ache for those who read
the print of the old heart of the
thousand and one nights in today.
Death
A death among others..
A cloud slowly breaks
in the sky...
The mirror sea
is just another bed
for the lonely thought of you..
I swim against the tide
smiling my life away,
my hand has become a fist
hitting away the doubt in my heart
A futile struggle,
you have just thrown
your shrouds over my soul
and I sink like a brick
long and slow to the seaweed bed
never to sing my siren song
again...
        ERASE MY GRAVE
In the land of autumn the wind axes away
    the violins in La chanson d'Autumne
    and clears the way to a new day
Rusted sonnets had sealed the vault
    where the drums and the scriptures.
    still fight about their last page in history
Blow hard and strong, wind
    please destroy for me
    that monument to absurdity
Erase my name, erase my grave
   while time is still ticking painfully..
Open the black bellies of the cemeteries
    and let the prayer of my souls fly free
Blow that hasty kiss to my last day
   decimated in counted moments.
I did never asked to be
Now I do ask to be no more.
    but that autumn leaf that you keep floating
    in that last season of your heart ©
             Ta'ali
  The Name Carved in Ancient Wood
Sometimes you would open the jewel chest
You thought I would be dazzled
By the precious stones and the gold...
Did not you see that there could never be
A sparkle in my eyes over those?
Over the prestige of your pen?
The eyes of my soul were transfixed
Only by the old wooden chest
Carved by an honest illiterate hand
My heart went to the rough wood
And the carving...I tore off a piece of my dress
Threw the jewels in a dark corner of your chamber....
And cleansed gently the wood to see its deepest scar
It read Ta-ah-lii like a bird song....
The wings of the calling in my life
Spread over my heart...
I flew away on the back of the first breeze...
To the Ancient Dream...
      The Vital Testament
Come thru the door, and the tale shall  unfold,
  For every testament is a tale told,
  while the truth is silent.
  The Word IS.
Boundaries
They speak of boundaries
And I stand on your soul
And nothing fits
It is all too wide....
When I come closer
You stretch further..
Yet, wherever
I stand away
From you,
You slide your love
Right under my heart
Why?
The Blue Rape
In the spring night sky
The burgundy inkwell
Called the night to him.
Her eyes were blinded
By the splendor of the quill
She came to rest
Into the shimmering nest.
Cruel. He picked her voice empty
Swallowing one word at a time
His beak bloody with greed.
Our day will never rise.
Our tale lies raped
In the blue sands..
Run my heart
Before the agonizing whisper
Breaks it to ruins
Our day will never rise.
From:  Immigrant
A poor immigrant
In the castle of one lie,
I look for exits,
For a bridge out of you;
A reprieve
Out of the dark fortress
Of a betrayed promise...
    The Last Saffron Prayer
the seasons cascade over the last saffron prayer
    of the world...
the endless floods of time swallow each and every           monastery
slaves to habit, walking one by one
on the tarnished silk road
the bells call to wonder and miracle
to replenish their empty bowls of rice
the Dalai Lama is hushed in a Mercedes..
the rock has eroded their feet
they walk on broken phalanges
the Mercedes is all they will ever know
    now, of their fate..
the bells call to wonder and miracles
to replenish their soul with wisdom
while a foreign dream, bullet-proof, prayer proof,
breaks the speed limit through life over bowed heads
A dream goes fast by as a Mercedes over speeds
and distances itself from the last saffron prayer
     of the world....
The Book  of Wisdom
They brought the book of wisdom
and asked me to lay my lifeline on his cover,
I did.
They asked me to swear by the closed book
that they did not want me to read,
I did.
Across the floor of the courtroom
I saw the truth faint, her face was gaunt
she has been malnourished for centuries
and she could not stand Time any longer
She collapsed on her knees, her back to them
I left the stand and the fat book. She was dying fast
I gave her some sweetness from my heart
and some bitterness from my life in a teardrop
Her pulse was so faint.
I asked her: why are you not at home
In the coziness of the prosperous book?
She said: I cannot breathe.
The powdered wigs have polluted my mind,
I cannot think fair.
All that is left is the intent to hurt
Her last words to me remain an unresolved enigma
She said :
I died a truth, and was born a lie.
