Stories from the h'Art
of
Mel Goldberg

In high school I wrote a play, which the drama department produced.  Writing became my passion.  My early writing was published in the Northern Illinois University literary magazine Towers. I thought,  Well, hey, this is easy!  I wrote every day, but I was seldom published.

In Los Angeles,  I  taught high school literature, produced a newspaper, and edited a literary magazine.  I continued writing and publishing.  In 1990, I became a Fulbright Exchange Teacher to Stanground College in
Cambridgeshire, England.  I published poetry in English magazines.

My poetry and stories have appeared in Anthology (Arizona), Amelia (California), Midstream (New York), Cthulhu Calls (Wyoming),  Acumen (England); and on-line in Mocha Memoirs, and Orchard Press Mysteries.

My book of poetry and photography, The Cyclic Path,  was published in 1990, and my novel, Choices, may become available within my lifetime.  It is currently with an agent.

The first story, Snares of Delusion, takes place in the very near future, or perhaps in the present, as mega-corporations merge to become techno-business as government.  The title comes from the Bhagavad Gita, 16:16:  Thus perplexed by various anxieties and bound by the snares of delusion, one becomes too strongly attached to sense enjoyment and falls down into hell.

The second story, Hero, comes out of some of my frustrations with teaching.
